Lawrence school district accepting applications for Boundary Advisory Committee, nominations for MLK awards; district administrator honored
The first couple weeks of November bring a few dates to note for applications, nominations and awards within the Lawrence school district:
– Applications are being accepted for
the district’s Boundary Advisory
Committee. The committee monitors
district population shifts and school
boundaries to ensure that equity,
district growth, budget and
transportation are considered when
recommending boundary changes to the
board. Committee members must reside
within the Lawrence school district
or be district employees. Members
serve a two-year term and are
eligible for reappointment for an
additional two years. Applications
should be submitted by Nov. 13 and
are available on the district’s
website.
– The district is also accepting
nominations for the 2016 Martin
Luther King Jr. Awards. The criteria
for each of the MLK awards as well as
the nomination application can be
found on the district’s website.
The deadline for nominations is Nov. 15.
Awards will be presented during the Lawrence school district’s
Community Celebration of Martin
Luther King Jr. on Jan. 21, 2016.
• The district’s assistant
superintendent of teaching and
learning has been selected as a
finalist for the National
Personalized Learning Leadership
Award. Angelique Nedved is one of 27
district leaders from across the
country selected as a finalist for
the award. Ten of the finalists will
move on to take part in a six-month
fellowship program on personalized
learning. The fellows will be
announced the second week of
November.
