University of Kansas basketball recruiting

The Kansas women’s basketball team earned a high school commitment in the class of 2027 from Amillia Prochnow.

Prochnow announced her decision on Instagram on Wednesday night. She is a 5-foot-8 guard from Overland Park.

She has played at The Barstow School in Kansas City, Missouri, and previously at Blue Valley High School as a freshman. Prochnow is a member of the Missouri Phenom club organization, and while playing for the Phenom Scholastic team during the 2025-26 season averaged 20.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game, according to the KCHS Hoops website. During one game against I School on Feb. 7, she recorded a quadruple-double.

Prochnow had previously been committed to Arkansas from Nov. 11 until July 16. After announcing her decommitment, she reported that she had received an offer from Alabama, but she didn’t take long to pick KU in the days afterward.

She also recently revealed that she will soon play in Overtime Select, a summer women’s basketball competition that begins on Friday in Atlanta. (Former KU great Tamecka Dixon is one of the coaches.)

Before initially choosing Arkansas, she had offers from Cal Poly, Lindenwood, Murray State and Oakland.

KU is in an interesting recruiting position for 2027 because while it has four seniors for the 2026-27 campaign, three of them — star guard S’Mya Nichols and incoming transfers Mykayla Cunningham and Mariyah Noel — will have access to a fifth year if they so choose under the NCAA’s new eligibility rules. Brittany Harshaw is the only fifth-year senior.
