The Kansas volleyball team huddles during the Jayhawks' match against Kansas State on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence.

The Kansas volleyball team stretched its win streak to four matches on Sunday with a 3-1 victory (25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23) over Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Junior outside hitter Grace Nelson matched her career high with 18 kills, including the decisive one on match point, and added 11 digs for a double-double. Middle blocker Reese Ptacek added 16 kills, and opposite hitter Taylor Stanley contributed 11.

Libero Olivia Hasbrook recorded 22 digs in the match, and setter Reese Messer tallied 54 assists; both were season highs.

The Jayhawks hit .285 to ISU’s .150, but gave away some free points with 11 service errors to just four aces. The Cyclones were led by 15 kills from sophomore outside hitter Mesaiya Bettis.

KU earned a small cushion midway through a tight first set with a 4-1 run and went up 16-12 on a kill by Kenzie Dean. The Cyclones couldn’t get back within two points at any point for the remainder of the set, and an attack error by Taylor Johnson provided the win for KU.

During the second set, the Jayhawks led by a similar margin fairly late at 18-15 before conceding six of the next seven points, including consecutive kills by D’Aaliyah Kemp and an ace from Bettis. A pair of timeouts couldn’t get KU quite back on track, and the Jayhawks did stave off two set points, but a service error from Hasbrook deprived them of a chance at extra points.

Nelson had six kills in the fourth set, including two to help KU go ahead 16-11 and then the set point following a kill by Ptacek.

The Cyclones rallied on a number of occasions to keep the fourth set competitive. Most notably, after a kill from Dean put KU ahead 23-20, ISU scored three straight to bring some energy to Hilton Coliseum and prompt a timeout from the Jayhawks. But an attack by Nayeli Ti’a sailed too far, and Nelson ended things on her 32nd swing of the day.

The Jayhawks, now 16-5 and 9-2 in Big 12 play, will return to Lawrence to host two foes at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena: Baylor (Thursday, 6 p.m.) and Cincinnati (Sunday, 1 p.m.)

Starting at $4.45/week.
