Current Kansas volleyball seniors Toyosi Onabanjo and Camryn Turner will have a chance to play domestically at the next level once they conclude their college careers.

Onabanjo was selected with the last pick of the first round of Monday’s Pro Volleyball Federation draft, No. 8 overall by the Omaha Supernovas, while her teammate Turner went with the sixth pick of the third round, 22nd overall to the Grand Rapids Rise.

The pair will have the opportunity to join a slew of former Jayhawks set to take part in the league during its second season of existence in 2025, including libero Anna Church on the San Diego Mojo, outside hitter Reagan Cooper and right-side hitter Kelsie Payne on reigning champion Omaha, setter Ainise Havili on the expansion Indy Ignite and outside hitter Allison Mayfield on the Vegas Thrill.

Onabanjo, who is from Houston, transferred to KU from Iowa prior to the start of her junior season in 2023. She has taken a step forward on offense as a senior; the 6-foot-1 middle blocker is averaging 2.58 kills per set on a .408 hitting percentage, and has also accounted for 1.2 blocks per set.

Turner, a Topeka native, is one of the nation’s top setters. After earning setter of the year honors from the Big 12 Conference in 2023, she has tallied 11.46 assists per set thus far this season, which is the best mark of her career and comes in at No. 4 in the country. She also ranks among the team leaders in digs and has posted 16 double-doubles this season.

Turner and Onabanjo are part of a significant group of KU seniors also featuring Caroline Bien, London Davis and Ayah Elnady. The Jayhawks will celebrate their senior night on Wednesday against BYU at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
