Top-ranked Texas sweeps Kansas volleyball in series finale

After pushing top-ranked Texas to its first five-set match of the season on Saturday, the Kansas volleyball team suffered the same fate as so many teams before them, when the Longhorns swept the Jayhawks in the series finale on Sunday.

Kansas won the first two sets on Saturday, but the Longhorns gave KU next to no chance in the opening set on Sunday, winning 25-11.

KU (11-6 overall, 3-3 Big 12) was much more competitive in the next two sets, but the Longhorns (13-0, 4-0) prevailed, 25-16 and 25-18, to take the match.

Texas hit .462 in the first set and an eye-popping .417 for the match. Kansas, meanwhile, hit a season-low .038 for the match.

Super-senior Jenny Mosser led KU with five kills for the match and senior Rachel Langs tallied four.

Next up, the Jayhawks will hit the road and play at No. 12 Baylor on Oct. 14 and 15. The Oct. 14 match will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and the finale will be televised on ESPNU.
