Tight end Sullivan commits to KU for 2026 season
Following a busy few weeks of official visits, the Kansas football staff has secured the services of another 2026 football prospect: tight end Kevin Sullivan.
Sullivan announced his commitment to KU via social media on Thursday evening. A resident of nearby Kansas City, Missouri, Sullivan, who attends Rockhurst High School, picked the Jayhawks over Iowa State, Missouri and Vanderbilt.
He received his KU offer on Jan. 8 and recently made his official visit on May 30.
The 6-foot-6, 230-pound three-star tight end is a dual-sport athlete, also playing basketball for the Hawklets. The multisport background is evident in his play on the football field with his natural athleticism.
“Basketball was my favorite sport, but football is my love now,” Sullivan told Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com. “Dribbling and the skills on the basketball court definitely helped with my football skills like my coordination on the field and how I can move and like bend.”
Sullivan now becomes the second tight end to commit to KU in the 2026 recruiting class, joining fellow Missourian Jack Utz of Platte City.
“I think it’s great because we can have two tight ends on the field at the same time and the other team will have to be aware of both of us,” Sullivan told Kirby. “We’re both good threats and I think that will be (a) good duo on the team.”
In addition to Sullivan and Utz, KU is still involved in the recruitment of in-state four-star tight end Ian Premer of Great Bend, being placed in his top five alongside Michigan, Notre Dame, Iowa State and Kansas State.
The commitments of both Sullivan and Utz also allow the Jayhawks to continue adding youth to a tight end group that will lose Deshawn Hanika and Leyton Cure following the 2025 season, who both will exhaust their final year of eligibility.
Overall, the Jayhawks now have 17 commits in the class of 2026, featuring 10 out-of-state players.
