Kansas offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue takes part in East-West Shrine Bowl practice on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, in Denton, Texas.

Longtime Kansas offensive tackle and future NFL guard Bryce Cabeldue was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

Cabeldue went in the sixth round at No. 192 overall.

Though he was already a bona fide professional prospect and had participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl, Cabeldue rocketed his way up draft boards with an impressive showing at the Big 12 Pro Day in late March.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 308 pounds, the lineman from Clovis, New Mexico, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.95 seconds (best among linemen at the event), leapt 32 inches in the vertical jump and 9 feet, 6 inches in the broad jump (each second best) and recorded 30 repetitions in the bench press (tied for first).

A five-year contributor for the Jayhawks, Cabeldue was an all-conference honorable mention in 2024 after his first and only season at left tackle, with fellow draft prospect Logan Brown switching over to the right side. Previously, Cabeldue had started for almost three full seasons at right tackle, beginning with the start of Lance Leipold’s tenure as head coach.

Cabeldue’s NFL Draft selection represents KU’s ongoing success in offensive-line development under Leipold, and even with a transition between assistant coaches Scott Fuchs and Daryl Agpalsa following the 2023 season.

Dominick Puni, another tackle at KU who previously started opposite Cabeldue and then moved to guard in the pros, went in the third round to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 draft and became one of the top rookie linemen in the NFL.

Prior to Saturday, the Seahawks had not selected a Kansas football player since quarterback Frank Seurer in the 1984 supplemental draft of players from the United States and Canadian football leagues; their last KU pick in the NFL Draft proper was linebacker Terry Beeson in 1977.
