Kansas redshirt sophomore cornerback Brian Dilworth announced on Tuesday afternoon that he plans to enter the transfer portal. He became the first player to do so after KU’s season concluded with its loss at Baylor on Saturday.

Dilworth, who was one of very few sophomores on KU’s 2024 roster, played just 18 snaps on defense and two on special teams this season, according to Pro Football Focus, with most of his action coming in the season-opening blowout victory over Lindenwood. Previously, he had played three snaps at Cincinnati in 2023 and 13 on special teams between the final two games of 2022.

In all, Dilworth finishes his KU career with two tackles in six career games, after arriving as a three-star prospect out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida, in 2022.

While he didn’t occupy a particularly high place on the depth chart in 2024, Dilworth’s departure does further deplete an already thin group that is losing stalwarts Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson to graduation. Jalen Todd, who just completed his true freshman season, and LSU transfer Damarius McGhee will be the most experienced members of the group when 2025 comes around. KU has already offered a scholarship to at least one defensive back, Brown transfer Isaiah Reed, in the early days of the winter transfer portal season.
