Kansas safety Akili Hubbard has entered the transfer portal — he shared a post on X by Rivals reporting the news Thursday afternoon.

Hubbard, a redshirt junior safety from Bellflower, California, did not play for KU during his lone season with the Jayhawks. He had signed with KU as a prominent juco transfer last February after tallying 18 tackles and four interceptions at Golden West College in 2022.

Safety had been one of the Jayhawks’ deepest positions during spring practice, with returnees Marvin Grant and O.J. Burroughs set to remain in prominent roles, Jalen and Devin Dye carving out roles, and more young players further down on the depth chart.

The KU coaching staff now has one additional scholarship to work with as it pursues various options in the spring portal window.
