UNLV quarterback Cameron Friel looks to pass against Hawaii during a college football game on Nov. 13, 2021, in Las Vegas.

The Kansas and UNLV football teams will face each other during the 2024 season, the schools jointly announced Wednesday.

The teams will play on Sept. 14, 2024, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. As part of the arrangement, there will be no return game in Las Vegas.

Kansas had not filled its final open date on the calendar that season, when it will also play Southern Illinois in the home opener on Aug. 31 and at Illinois on Sept. 7.

The teams last faced off in a home-and-home series in 2002 and 2003. Kansas lost 31-20 in Las Vegas in Mark Mangino’s first season as coach, then won 46-24 at home the following year.

The Jayhawks will open their season on Sept. 2 with a home game against Tennessee Tech.
