As the Kansas football program transitions into the Lance Leipold era, the Jayhawks lost one of their previous recruits for the Class of 2022.

Cory Hendrix, a high school offensive tackle from College Station, Texas, announced Sunday his plans to further explore his options.

“After talking with my family, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Kansas,” Hendrix wrote on Twitter. “My recruitment is now 100% open.”

The change came a little less than two months after Hendrix committed to KU in early March.

Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals, Hendrix, who was recruited by first-year KU offensive line coach Lee Grimes, reportedly also had scholarship offers from 13 other programs, including Baylor, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona State, Georgia Tech and Houston.

As of now, the Jayhawks still have six high school juniors committed to the program. Houston Thomas, a three-star tight end and prep teammates of Hendrix, committed to KU on April 4, after former head coach Les Miles left and while interim head coach Emmett Jones was in charge. Thomas also was recruited by Grimes.

Nikki Taylor, an athlete from Alabama, also committed in April, while Jones was the interim head coach.

The other four prospects in the program’s 2022 class initially committed to KU while Miles was still the head coach.
