No. 4 Baker softball stuns No. 1 Central Methodist 5-1 in conference quarterfinals

No. 4 Baker softball stunned No. 1 Central Methodist 5-0 on Friday to advance to the Heart of America Conference semifinals.

Senior Savannah Bray went 3-for-3 with two doubles while junior Taryn Hull and senior Sydney Erlandson went 2-for-2 for the Wildcats.

Central Methodist loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning, but couldn’t bring in a runner. Junior pitcher Kira Baker threw all seven innings for the win. Central Methodist’s Veronica Dearth took the loss.

Baker’s win followed a 2-1 victory in nine innings against Benedictine on Thursday. Their next opponent will be No. 2 Grand View at noon Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The game will stream at heartconferencenetwork.com.
