Baker advances to Heart of America Men’s Championship

The No. 1 Baker men squeezed past No. 4 MidAmerica Nazarene 70-67 on Saturday to advance to the Heart of America Men’s Championship for the second straight year.

Kaimen Lennox led the Wildcats with 19 points. Quentin Harvey (15) and Noah Rigatuso (13) both reached double figures. Harvey went 7-for-8 on free throws and Rigatuso nabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the last three games.

Baker struggled at the start of the second half, going scoreless through six minutes until Nick Whittick nailed a jumper and Lennox and Rigatuso added seven points to tie the game at 41-41 before Lennox pushed the Wildcats ahead.

Joe Buchanan led the Pioneers with 26 points in a tight back-and-forth game before Baker prevailed.

Next up, the Wildcats will host No. 2 Graceland in the Heart Championship at 7 p.m. Tuesday. They hosted their first championship last year, when they fell to Peru State 63-59.
