Baker University golfer Gavin Dines received Heart of America Conference player of the week honors Monday after a first-place performance at the conference tournament.

Dines, a sophomore from Olathe, sunk a 12-foot putt to eagle on the final hole at The Nicklaus Club at LionsGate for first place out of 57 golfers. He was the only golfer to come in under par in both rounds, with a 71 on the first day and a 70 on the second. The men’s team finished sixth in the competition and the Baker women’s team finished third, with a top-five finish from Izabelle Backstrom.

Olivia Lange of William Penn University was named women’s golfer of the week.
