Baker University’s Avery Young earned the Heart of America Conference Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday for her performance the week prior.

Young notched her second-straight shutout Saturday in Baker’s 2-0 win over Park, which helped the Wildcats secure the No. 7 seed in the Heart Conference Tournament.

The Baker women will travel to No. 2 Benedictine at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the quarterfinals in Atchison.

The Baker men’s team enters the conference quarterfinals with the No. 5 seed after defeating Park 2-0 on Saturday as well. They will face defending NAIA champions MidAmerica Nazarene at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Olathe.
