The Kansas State High School Activities Association announced Wednesday morning that the 6A state baseball tournament slated for Thursday and Friday in Fort Scott had been pushed back a day and now will begin on Friday.

Steady rain is in the weather forecast for that area throughout Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday is projected to have sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-60s.

Free State High’s baseball team is slated to play as the No. 6 seed in the tournament, and the Firebirds will now face No. 3 seed Olathe West at 1:15 p.m. Friday at LaRoche Baseball Complex.

The winner of that game will meet the winner of Friday’s 2-7 matchup at 11 a.m. Saturday in the state semifinals. The state championship game is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
