Coach of the Year: Brett Delich, Tonganoxie

Brett Delich

The Tonganoxie boys wrestling team won the 4A state title with 152.0 points in the 4A state tournament where seven Chieftains finished on the podium.

Player of the Year: Brady Martin, Tonganoxie

Brady Martin

Martin went 43-3 on the season in the 165-pound weight class including a state title in the 4A state tournament.

Clayton Crookham, Tonganoxie

Clayton Crookham

Crookham was the 4A state runner-up at the 157-pound weight class this season. He finished with a 36-12 record on the year.

Dax Duffett, Tonganoxie

Dax Duffett

Duffett, a four-time state qualifier, finished his senior year fourth in the 144 pound weight class of the 4A state tournament. It was his second time finishing a season on the podium.

Lou Elsten, Lawrence

Lawrence’s Lou Elsten finishes a pin in the City Showdown wrestling dual at Lawrence on Jan. 21, 2026, in Lawrence.

An illness kept Elsten from competing in the regional and state tournaments, but Elsten secured his legacy at Lawrence long before then. Elsten won over 100 matches before his senior year and placed within the top four at the state tournament three times.

Jadin Harrell, Lawrence

Harrell left everything on the mat for his senior year, finishing as the regional champion and placing fourth in the 6A state tournament.

Tristen Moore, Free State

Tristen Moore

Moore went 31-14 his junior year at 132 pounds and placed sixth at the 6A state tournament. He earned first-team all-Sunflower League honors.

Newt Schreiner, Eudora

Newt Schreiner

Newt Schreiner took third at both the Frontier League meet and regional meet before placing sixth in the 4A state meet. This was the second time in Schreiner’s three-year career that he qualified for state.

Zane Shaw, Free State

Zane Shaw

Shaw went 41-6 in his senior year, earning first-team all-Sunflower League honors and finishing as the 6A West regional runner-up and 6A state runner-up.

Brodie Starcher, Tonganoxie

Brodie Starcher

Starcher finished as the runner-up in the 4A state tournament at the 113-pound weight class while going 19-2 on the season.

Rowdey Starcher, Tonganoxie

Rowdey Starcher

Starcher, a sophomore, placed fourth in the 4A state wrestling tournament, which was the second time he placed at state.

Beau Underwood, Tonganoxie

Beau Underwood

Underwood, a two-time state qualifier, finished his senior year sixth in the 4A state tournament at 138 pounds.
