With the end of April, the spring sports season entered its final month, as some sports are rapidly approaching the end of the season. Here are this week’s selections for the Journal-World Athletes of the Week:

Henry Thompson, Free State

In the Topeka Country Club Invitational, Free State boys golf finished third with a 305 team score, only three strokes behind first-place Olathe Northwest. Thompson led the Firebirds after shooting a 72, which was third individually in the event.

Keira Norris, Lawrence

After a few losses, the Lawrence softball team rebounded in a big way with a 3-2 win over an Olathe East team that is tied for the most wins in 6A. Norris played a large part in preventing the Hawks from scoring, as she threw seven strikeouts against four hits and two walks. Neither of the two runs scored were earned runs.
