This past week featured state tournaments in wrestling and postseason games for boys and girls basketball. In those competitions, several local athletes shined for their teams.

Stella Bradley, Tonganoxie

Bradley won a 4A state girls wrestling title in the 115-pound weight class as the Chieftains won the overall state tournament. She pinned all four of her opponents in the tournament, including a 39-second pin in the championship.

Korbin Dowdell, Free State

Dowdell led the Firebirds in a 69-62 win over Wichita East to advance to the substate championship. Dowdell scored 25 points, with 17 in the second half, and added five rebounds and five assists.
