The winter sports season is rounding into the final half of the season as local area teams and players are working to hit their peaks at tournament time. Here are this week’s selections for Athletes of the Week:

Goldy Stephens, Lawrence

The Lawrence girls wrestling team competed in the Best of the West tournament on Saturday, and Goldy Stephens finished third in the 235-pound weight class. She went 4-1 in the tournament and pinned her opponent in the second period of the third-place match.

Zane Shaw, Free State

Zane Shaw avenged an earlier loss to Lawrence’s Jadin Harrell in Free State’s dual against Lawrence with a 4-1 decision win. The Firebirds ended up winning 65-9 in the dual.
