The spring sports season is around a month away from its conclusion, and local teams and athletes are battling for seeding positions to enter the postseason at the top of their sports. Here are this week’s selections for Athletes of the Week:

Sam Claire, Eudora

Claire and the Eudora Cardinals took on an 8-1 Baldwin team on Tuesday in Baldwin City and won 7-0 to move to 14-0 on the season. Claire threw 19 strikeouts out of 21 total outs in the win.

Cole Wright, Free State

Wright recorded three hits while leading the team with five RBIs in Free State’s 19-10 win over Wichita Heights on Saturday. The team’s 19 runs are the second-most this season for the Firebirds.
