A slew of local teams learned Saturday morning where, when and whom they will play for their opening matchups of the upcoming KSHSAA regional playoffs.

Here’s what awaits the area’s top baseball, softball and soccer squads during the week ahead.

Baseball

6A East Regional: No. 10 Lawrence High (13-13) will face No. 7 Mill Valley (14-11) at Blue Valley Antioch District Athletic Complex at 2 p.m. Wednesday. If the Lions win, they will play the winner of No. 2 Blue Valley West and No. 15 Olathe North later that night.

6A West Regional: No. 3 Free State (19-6) will host No. 14 Dodge City (9-15) at its home field at 4 p.m. Wednesday. If the Firebirds win, they will turn around and face the winner of No. 6 Washburn Rural and No. 11 Wichita-Haysville Campus for a regional title at 6 p.m.

4A East Regional: No. 15 Baldwin/Bishop Seabury (9-12) will travel to face No. 2 Atchison (18-2) on Tuesday after the conclusion of the matchup between No. 7 Paola and No. 10 Augusta. The winners will play for a regional title that night.

Other action on Tuesday sees No. 11 Eudora (9-11) take on No. 6 Wamego (14-8) at Louisburg’s Lewis-Young Park at 2 p.m., with the winner facing either No. 3 Louisburg or No. 14 Parsons.

The following day, 12th-seeded Tonganoxie (10-13) will take on No. 5 Chanute (17-9) at Fort Scott-LaRoche Baseball Complex at 2 p.m. The title matchup will pit that winner against either host No. 4 Fort Scott or No. 13 Bishop Miege later on Wednesday.

Regional baseball got off to an earlier start at the 3A level, where fourth-seeded Perry-Lecompton has already advanced through the first round by beating No. 5 Riverside/Doniphan West 4-1 on Thursday at Homefield Baseball Complex in Kansas City.

The Kaws will play out the rest of regional action at Meriden-Jefferson West on Tuesday. To reach the final, they’ll have to get through top-seeded unbeaten No. 1 Kansas City-Bishop Ward at 2 p.m.

Softball

6A East Regional: No. 11 Lawrence High (9-16) will face No. 6 Gardner Edgerton (15-11) at ANTDAC Wednesday at 3 p.m., with the winner taking on either No. 3 Blue Valley West or No. 14 Shawnee Mission Northwest later that night.

6A West Regional: No. 2 Free State (17-6) will host No. 15 Dodge City (6-20) at its home field Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., following the conclusion of the game between No. 7 Manhattan and No. 10 Wichita North. The winners will play at 6 p.m. that night.

4A East Regional: Eudora and Tonganoxie were placed in the same regional, hosted by the Cardinals. No. 7 Tonganoxie (13-7) will take on No. 10 Louisburg (11-14) Monday at 3 p.m., before No. 2 Eudora (20-4) battles No. 15 Paola (6-18), and the winners will play for the title afterward.

In 3A, Perry-Lecompton (14-4) was seeded earlier in the week and so has long known that it is a No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 Kansas City-Bishop Ward (8-8) at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Topeka-Hayden.
