Coach of the Year: Randy Clark, Free State

Clark guided the Firebirds to another strong season that featured a second-place finish at the Sunflower League tournament, nine points shy of Shawnee Mission East. That showing included strong performances by Jake Hedges and Felipe Reina-Salas in singles, as well as Drew Harrison/Owen Thompson and Kiefer Bullock/Will Six in doubles, with Harrison and Thompson earning third place and Hedges eventually making it all the way to the state meet.

Player of the Year: Jake Hedges, Free State

The lone local qualifier for the 6A state championships in singles, Hedges compiled a 22-10 record on the year that included a fourth-place finish in the league tournament, fifth place at regionals and, after a 2-3 run, 11th place at the state tournament in Wichita. The senior made it to state all four years of his high school career.

The top doubles team for the Chesty Lions, composed of the senior Daniels and junior Lavin, won a pair of matches at the Gardner Edgerton regional to earn sixth place and a state qualifying spot, before going 1-2 at state.

The junior Borjas and senior Shumaker only lost one regular-season singles match prior to regionals, then teamed up for a fourth-place finish at regionals and a seventh-place finish at the 3-1A state tournament in Prairie Village.
