Former Kansas men’s basketball player Arterio Morris is no longer enrolled at Garden City Community College.

Garden City’s athletic director Mike Pilosof said as much in a written statement Friday evening, characterizing the move as “in the best interest of all parties.”

Just two days earlier, Pilosof had confirmed that Morris was enrolled at the school but did not confirm whether he planned to play on the Broncbusters’ basketball team, citing “an ongoing legal matter.”

Morris is currently facing a rape charge dating back to a late-August allegation at McCarthy Hall, which resulted in his suspension and eventual dismissal from the KU men’s basketball team.

The affidavit in Morris’ rape case, which includes details of the allegation, was released Wednesday just hours before the junior college basketball recruiting site JucoRecruiting.com posted on X that Morris “has signed with/enrolled at Garden City CC for the 23-24 season.”

Prior to transferring to KU in the offseason, Morris previously played at the University of Texas for a year. He spent a season at Texas and most of his time at KU facing a Class A misdemeanor assault charge, before he pleaded no contest to a lesser Class C charge on Sept. 14. A day later, KU suspended him following news that a rape had been reported at McCarthy Hall.
