The Journal-World All-Area teams are carefully selected by the Journal-World’s sports staff.

• Player of the Year: Fisayo Afonja, Baldwin High

Fisayo Afonja

Afonja averaged 5.7 kills per set with 567 total kills during her senior season with the Bulldogs, including 74 blocks and 299 digs. As a six-rotation player, Afonja became one of the Frontier League most-feared hitters on her way to First Team All-Frontier League honors.

• Coach of the Year: Brooke Hopper, Eudora High

Hopper, finding success in her first season (24-10) with the Cardinals, led her troops clear the 4A state tournament with a 4A substate title victory over neighboring Baldwin High.

• Avery Bergan, Baldwin High

Bergan averaged 8.8 assists per game with a total 882 this season with the Bulldogs. Bergan finished her senior campaign with 314 total digs, 27 total aces and a 93% serving percentage.

• Ellie Suber, Eudora High

Ellie Suber

Suber racked up 1,500 assists in her two years of varsity setter experience. As a 16-year-old senior, Suber leaped toward the duties of team captain and pulled down First Team All-Frontier League honors.

• Rayah Foltz, Eudora High

Rayah Foltz

Foltz took on team captain duties in her senior season with the Cardinals, serving as a six-rotation player and attacker this fall. Foltz finished the season with First Team All-Frontier honors.

• Camille Farha, Bishop Seabury Academy

Camille Farha

Farha finished her Seahawk career with 300+ blocks, 500+ assists, and 300+ kills. Promoted to team captain as a senior, Faraha pulled down First Team All-Kaw Valley Conference honors.

• Xeva Oldridge, Bishop Seabury Academy

Xeva Oldridge

Oldridge put together an impressive sophomore campaign, jumping up to 300+ career kills and 100+ career aces. Oldridge was named Second Team All-Kaw Valley Conference.

• Fiona VanDyke, Free State

Fiona VanDyke

VanDyke led the way for the Firebirds as an outside hitter with 291 kills, 424 receptions, 43 blocks and 195 digs to complete her time at Free State. VanDyke is committed to Manhattan College for next fall.

• Seenane Brewer, Lawrence High

Seenane Brewer

Brewer finished her LHS career with 273 total kills, 153 digs and a .300 hitting average in her senior season. Brewer is committed to New Mexico for next fall. Brewer is a two-time First Team All-Sunflower League selection (2022 and 2023).

• Taylor Damme, Perry-Lecompton

Taylor Damme

Damme finished her senior season first in blocks across 3A – fifth in the state – and with over 1,000 career kills with the Kaws. Damme was named First Team All-Big 7 League.

Kyndol Gray

Gray finished her senior season first in assists across the Big 7 – 11th in the state – and was named First Team All-Big 7 League.
