Kansas University Football Recruiting

The first big weekend of June visits continues to pay dividends for Kansas football.

Cornerback Jalen Todd of Southfield A&T in Michigan announced his commitment Wednesday night to join the Jayhawks in 2024. He visited Lawrence last weekend, along with his high-school quarterback and prior KU commitment Isaiah Marshall, and now becomes the fifth player Kansas has added from that slate of a dozen visitors since Sunday.

“I just feel like they’ve built something new here and I want to be a part of that for sure,” Todd told Greg Smith of Rivals.com.

Rivals rates Todd as a four-star prospect, but the rest of the major recruiting services consider him a three-star. He follows in the footsteps of similarly highly rated 2024 cornerback Austin Alexander, the consensus top player at the position in the state of Illinois. The Jayhawks have also signed a third defensive back in Aundre Gibson of Goodyear, Arizona.

Todd goes down as another Detroit prospect recruited by linebackers coach Chris Simpson. He will be one of KU’s highest-regarded recruits of the 2024 cycle.

“[I’m looking forward to] just changing the game and making a big impact on defense and being that corner that is out there locking down receivers,” he told Smith.

The Jayhawks beat out wide-ranging schools like Auburn, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Wisconsin to earn his commitment, and they now have 10 total high schoolers in the class.
