FSHS softball rolls to 14-3 win
Free State’s softball team was in complete control throughout its 14-3 win over Olathe Northwest on Saturday afternoon at FSHS.
The Firebirds (15-1) struck first with one run in the first before scoring four more runs in the second. They finished off the win with nine runs over the final two innings, including an eight-spot in the bottom of the sixth.
FSHS clobbered a trio of home runs in the win. Future Division I players Tatum Clopton (Oklahoma State), Georgia Rea (Western Illinois) and Sara Roszak (Kansas) all went deep on Saturday.
Rea collected two RBIs and two hits (triple and homer) as the team’s leadoff hitter. Roszak also recorded a triple and three RBIs to go along with her blast. Clopton finished with three RBIs and two hits.
Robin Todd drove in three RBIs as well, delivering a double and a base knock for FSHS. Clopton pitched all six innings, giving up three runs on four hits to go along with 10 strikeouts and three walks.

LHS wrestler signs with Baker
Lawrence High wrestler Logan Farrell signed his national letter of intent earlier this week. Farrell will wrestle for Baker University at the collegiate level.
Farrell battled injuries throughout his high school career, including an ankle injury that completely derailed his junior campaign after a promising sophomore season where he finished one win shy of placing at the state tourney.
Farrell, who competed in the 132-pound weight class this past winter, finished with a 13-8 overall record during his final season with the Lions.
