Garrett Cleavinger back in big leagues

Former Lawrence High pitcher Garrett Cleavinger recently rejoined the major ranks. Earlier this week, the left-handed pitcher was called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has appeared in two games since, throwing 19 pitches in each of the two outings.

In a 8-7 loss to the San Diego Padres on April 25, Cleavinger gave up one unearned run on no hits to go along with one strikeout. He recorded two outs, one of which was a strikeout, while giving up two hits during a 8-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds on April 28.

Cleavinger was removed from the game with two outs in the ninth against the Reds after a liner struck him in the triceps area. He is not expected to miss any time. He did warm up in the bullpen late in Thursday’s loss to Milwaukee, though he didn’t get into the game.

After these two 2021 appearances, Cleavinger now has played in three games in his MLB career. Cleavinger made his debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020.
