On Thursday, the Veritas boys basketball team ended a brief skid with a 66-47 road win over Christ Prep Academy. It marked the first win for the Eagles since Jan. 16, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

Veritas (8-5) was strong on both ends of the floor throughout the night. The Eagles posted four double-digit quarters as an offense, while shooting 26-for-54 from the floor. On the other end, Christ Prep was held to just 3 points in the third quarter that effectively helped Veritas pull away.

As has usually been the case this year, Will Rau filled up the stat sheet in the win for Veritas. Rau went 11-of-15 from the floor on his way to a game-high 26 points. He also added seven rebounds, seven steals and two assists.

It was a balanced attack after Rau’s scoring impact, however. Five other players scored for Veritas, which included a 10-point outing by Brennan Clements. He shot 4-of-9 on the night, adding in four rebounds and two steals. Owen Welch and Jordan Donaldson each finished with 9 points.

Veritas will be right back in action on Saturday, when it travels to Manhattan Chief.
