Veritas boys fall at home to KC East

Despite an early lead, the Veritas boys basketball team dropped its second game in a row in an 82-63 home loss to Kansas City East Christian Academy on Tuesday.

The Eagles (7-5) jumped out to a 18-16 lead in the opening period, but they weren’t able to maintain that momentum. KC East outscored Veritas in each of the next three periods, including a 23-15 advantage in the second quarter to take control of the contest.

In a losing effort, Will Rau led Veritas with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He also added nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals to round out his regular well-balanced stat line. Brennan Clements was the only other Eagle to finish in double figures, as he scored 12 points on a 5-for-8 effort from the floor.

Veritas will look to end this two-game skid on Thursday, when it travels to Christ Prep Academy (4-6) for its fourth road game in the last five outings.
