The Veritas boys basketball team got back in the win column with a 58-54 road victory over Life Prep on Saturday.

One day after a lopsided loss, the Eagles (7-3) bounced back to grab a 20-8 lead after one quarter. Veritas let Life Prep hang around after that, but mostly matched the opposition for much of the game.

Will Bartkoski went 11-for-19 from the floor, which included a 9-of-14 clip on 2-point attempts, on his way to a team-high 29 points. He also added four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Will Rau scored 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field.

In addition to his scoring impact, Rau was also effective in all other phases of the game. He delivered six assists to go along with six steals and five rebounds. Aden-Jay Baker led Veritas in rebounding with eight boards.

Veritas will play Kansas City East Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
