Free State head coach Chris Linner calls a play Shannon Clarke (3) during a game against Gardner Edgerton Friday night at FSHS on Jan. 8, 2021.

Free State’s girls basketball team couldn’t overcome Olathe Northwest’s perimeter shooting in a 50-37 loss at Olathe Northwest on Friday.

The Ravens knocked down nine shots from outside, which allowed them to go on runs throughout the game. The Firebirds (1-3) hung tough all night, but couldn’t hit enough shots of their own to climb their way out of the hole.

Senior Shannon Clarke led Free State with 20 points in a losing effort. She connected on seven attempts from the floor. Free State now has dropped both of its games in January since returning from the break.

FSHS will travel to Mill Valley at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
