Veritas boys basketball erases early deficit in 61-52 home win

The Veritas boys basketball team erased an early deficit in its 61-52 home win over St. Mary’s on Saturday.

In the second game in as many days, Veritas faced a 18-15 deficit after the opening period. But, like Friday’s win over Bishop Seabury, the Eagles responded and took control of the game. They even scored 21 points in the fourth period to pull away.

It was a strong showing by the Eagles, who actually dropped a 48-44 decision on the road against St. Mary’s in December. Veritas is now 6-2 for the year and on a three-game winning streak.

Jordan Donaldson led the offensive attack with a team-high 16 points for Veritas. Will Bartkoski was right behind him with 14 points. Brennan Clements joined them in double figures with 10 points.

Will Rau only scored 8 points, but he collected 10 rebounds to go along with six assists and five steals.

Veritas will travel to Wichita HomeSchool next Friday.
