KU women’s basketball has two more games postponed due to COVID-19

For the second time this season, the Kansas women’s basketball team has had its schedule altered due to COVID-19.

On Friday, KU announced that its next two Big 12 games have been postponed due to injury and COVID-19 protocols within the KU women’s basketball program. Kansas was slated to play host to West Virginia at 5 p.m. Saturday, and was scheduled to travel to Iowa State on Wednesday.

According to the official release, Kansas does not currently meet the roster thresholds set by the Big 12 conference. KU will work with the league to reschedule both games, though no dates have been announced yet.

It is already the second time this season that COVID-19 protocols have kept the Jayhawks off the court. KU had its nonconference game against UT Rio Grande Valley canceled entirely, and it postponed its Big 12 tilt with Texas in mid-December.

As a result, the Jayhawks (5-2, 1-0 Big 12) have only played two games since their 74-64 win over Oklahoma on Dec. 10 in the Big 12 opener. KU dropped a 72-69 decision to North Dakota State on Dec. 21, and then bounced back to record a 78-59 win over New Mexico State on Dec. 29.

Kansas is slated to travel to Oklahoma State on Saturday, Jan. 9.
