Lawrence High’s girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start in a 47-20 road loss to Olathe North on Tuesday.

Olathe North leapt out to a 18-5 lead after the opening period before posting a 14-3 advantage in the second quarter for good measure. LHS responded with a better performance in the second half, as Destiny Savannah provided plenty of energetic play over the final two quarters.

Hailey Ramirez and Lucy Hardy both rebounded well and dove for loose balls down the stretch for Lawrence as well.

LHS (2-15) will host Free State at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lawrence 5 3 6 6 — 20

Olathe North 19 14 8 6 — 47

Lawrence (20)

Hailey Ramirez 2, Amaya Marshall 3, Cree Stewart 2, Destiny Savannah 2, Lucy Hardy 4, Daphne Bracker Sturm 3, Azura Clark 4.
