Lawrence boys secure sixth straight win by defeating SM West, 57-45

Lawrence High’s boys basketball team pushed its win streak on after a 57-45 road victory over Shawnee Mission West on Tuesday. The Lions (14-1, No. 3 in Class 6A) have now won six games in a row.
LHS outscored the opposition in each of the first three periods, and was able to withstand a 23-point effort by Shawnee Mission West in the fourth quarter. The Lions posted double-digit outputs in all four periods to begin a stretch of three games in three days.
Senior Zeke Mayo led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists in the win. Junior Pearse Long finished with 11 points after knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Junior Avion Nelson also notched 11 points, including nine in the second half.
Lawrence will host Olathe North at 7 p.m. Thursday.
