Free State’s girls basketball team was held to its lowest scoring output of the season in an eventual 47-14 road loss to Shawnee Mission East on Friday.

The Firebirds, who have lost all three of this week’s games so far, never managed more than their 7-point effort in the first quarter. After that, FSHS followed that up with 4 points in the second period and a total of 3 points in the entire second half.

Senior Shannon Clarke, who reached the 1,000-point mark in her career in Thursday’s loss, was held to just a single point by Shawnee Mission East this time around. Senior guard Evy Harrell led FSHS with 5 points in the team’s latest defeat.

Free State is now 4-9 on the year, which includes a 2-7 clip in Sunflower League action. Shawnee Mission East climbed back to .500 on the season, moving to 7-7 after its home win over FSHS.

The Firebirds will look to put this loss behind them with their final game of the week on Saturday when they travel to Olathe North. Tipoff is slated for 11 a.m.
