Shannon Clarke reaches 1,000-point mark, FSHS girls drop road battle

Free State’s girls basketball team ultimately ended up on the wrong end of a hard-fought 47-43 battle at Notre Dame Sion. The Firebirds fell to 4-8 on the year following Thursday’s narrow defeat.

Senior Shannon Clarke, who will eventually continue her basketball career at the Naval Academy after high school, cracked the 1,000-point mark in her FSHS career on Thursday. She led the Firebirds with 19 points in the loss.

Notre Dame Sion ultimately made enough plays down the stretch to secure the win, pouring in 18 points in the final period.

Free State will travel to Shawnee Mission East at 7 p.m. Friday.
