The University of Kansas women’s soccer team’s home opener against Oklahoma on Friday has been postponed because of COVID-19 issues with the OU roster.

According to a news release from KU, the number of positive tests and contacts on OU’s roster exceeded the Big 12 Conference’s minimum standard for competition which states that teams must have 14 student-athletes available to play, including at least one goalkeeper.

OU’s 2020-21 roster, listed on the school’s official website, features 33 total players, including three goalkeepers.

The news release indicated that the two programs would seek to reschedule the match for a later date.

KU’s next contest in its nine-game, pandemic-shortened 2020 season is slated for 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 against Texas Tech at Rock Chalk Park.

The Jayhawks opened the 2020-21 season with a 1-0 victory last Friday at Texas.
