After each high school sports season, the Journal-World recognizes outstanding athletes with its All-Area Teams.

Because of statewide precautions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the annual All-Area winter group photos were not able to be taken this year. The teams still were selected based on the regular nomination process. In an attempt to acquire photos of everyone represented, the Journal-World reached out to each coach and player selected for the winter All-Area Teams.

The All-Area Teams are made up of top athletes from Lawrence High, Free State, Bishop Seabury, Veritas Christian, Baldwin, Eudora, Perry-Lecompton and Tonganoxie. Each school has at least one representative on each team if the sport is offered. The selections are based on nominations and input from area coaches.
