LHS boys surge past Wyandotte for 5th consecutive win

Lawrence High’s boys basketball team needed a second-half comeback to surge past Wyandotte, 63-36, on the road on Wednesday.

Trailing 24-21 at the intermission, the Lions (8-3) kicked it into high gear over the final two periods to notch their fifth win in a row. Lawrence scored 15 points in the third quarter and then erased any chance of a loss with a 27-point effort in the final period.

LHS also held Wyandotte (3-8) to just 8 points in the fourth quarter, handing the opposing team its fifth defeat in January.

Peyton Mallory paced the Lions with 17 points, though 13 of those points came in the second half. Bryce Johnson joined him in double figures with a 13-point performance. Zeke Mayo and Valdez White each finished with nine points in the win.

Lawrence will travel to Olathe South on Tuesday.
