LHS girls basketball crushes Wyandotte for 52-10 win

The Lawrence High girls basketball team got back in the win column in a big way Thursday.

Lawrence dominated on both ends of the floor in a 52-10 road victory over Wyandotte to end a two-game losing skid. The Lions held the opposition scoreless in the first quarter, while pouring in 18 points on the offensive end, and never looked back after that.

“The girls did a great job bringing energy and intensity to the game,” LHS head coach Jeff Dickson said.

Seniors Ella Stewart, Sophie DeWitt, Lexi Dutcher and Paiden Bell helped ensure the Lions jumped out to an early lead. DeWitt finished with a team-high 10 points, while Stewart produced 9 points on three triples. Bell and Dutcher added a combined 9 points as well.

LHS (4-4) led by a 33-2 margin by intermission, which allowed plenty of reserves to get some action in the second half.

Lawrence will travel to Gardner Edgerton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
