KU women’s basketball adds transfer guard Erica Haynes-Overton

A new addition to the Kansas women’s basketball team was announced Friday as junior guard Erica Haynes-Overton has joined the program, according to coach Brandon Schneider.

The 5-foot-5 guard will sit out this season after transferring from East Tennessee State. Haynes-Overton will be eligible for KU in spring 2021.

“Erica is an explosive athlete who is an elite, disruptive defender,” Schneider said in a KU Athletics release. “Offensively, we love that she can get her own shot and plays with an aggressive, attacking mentality at all times. We’re excited to add a player mid-year who will improve our roster and program.”

During her career at East Tennessee State, Haynes-Overton amassed 1,046 career points and led the Buccaneers in minutes (31.5), points per game (16.8), assists per game (3.5) and steals per game (3.1) during the 2018-19 season. Haynes-Overton is also a two-time Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
