Not even a second meeting with a team it already has a win against could go in the favor of the Kansas women’s basketball team.

The Jayhawks trailed from start to finish in their 89-72 road loss to Texas Tech on Wednesday at the United Supermarkets Arena. Kansas (12-11, 1-11 Big 12) has now lost six games in a row since its 67-50 victory over Texas Tech on Jan. 18.

With the win, Texas Tech now has a 23-12 lead in the all-time series with Kansas. The Red Raiders (15-7, 4-7 Big 12) have won three of their previous six games since falling to the Jayhawks on the road.

Kansas faced a 22-7 deficit after the opening period and never fully recovered. The Jayhawks scored 20 points in the third frame and 28 points in the final quarter, but the early deficit proved to be too much to overcome.

It marks the fourth consecutive game that KU has lost by double digits. Over that span, the Jayhawks have been outscored by 95 points by the opposition.

Zakiyah Franklin led Kansas with 15 points in a losing effort, going 6-of-11 from the floor in 30 minutes. Aniya Thomas netted 13 points on a 5-for-14 effort from the field. Mariane De Carvalho and Emma Merriweather each scored 10 points to finish in double figures.

Andrayah Adams and Lexi Gordon both finished with 19 points to lead Texas Tech. Brittany Brewer added 18 points for the Red Raiders in the win.

Kansas will host Texas at 6 p.m. Saturday.
