Jayhawks conclude Kansas Invitational with loss to Syracuse

Kansas concluded the Kansas Invitational with a three-set defeat to Syracuse on Sunday afternoon in the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. KU finished the tournament 1-2 with a win in its home opener against Morehead State.

In the first set, Kansas and Syracuse battled back and forth. The Jayhawks held a narrow 1-point advantage (21-20) before the Orange mounted a comeback and rattled off 5 consecutive points to take the set.

Set two was more of the same for the two schools with Syracuse claiming a two-set edge after earning the set 31-29. In the final set, Kansas was unable to gain momentum and fell to the Orange by a 25-12 margin to close out the tournament.

Zoe Hill finished with a team-high eight kills, while fellow senior Ashley Smith tallied five. Sara Nielsen was the team leader in assists with 27. Allie Nelson finished with 10 digs.

Kansas (4-4) travels to Las Vegas for the Rebel Challenge and is scheduled to face Arizona State on Friday and UNLV on Saturday.
