KU volleyball falls to No. 1 Texas in 4 sets

Kansas volleyball was unable to complete the upset of No. 1-ranked Texas on the road Saturday night, falling in four sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-18, 25-18) at Gregory Gymnasium.

The Jayhawks did manage to take the opening set in surprising fashion, taking the first frame 25-22 and ending on a 5-2 run. However, the Longhorns bounced back in a big way, taking the final three sets. This included the decisive fourth set, as Texas finished off Kansas with a 4-0 run to take the match.

Senior Ashley Smith led the way with 16 kills for Kansas, with freshman Morgan Christon right behind with 11. Senior Allie Nelson also had a team-high 16 digs on the night.

Kansas will finish the regular season on Senior Night against Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
