KU volleyball falls to TCU in 4 sets

Despite a tough battle, Kansas dropped a four-set match (26-24, 25-23, 25-17, 25-22) against TCU Saturday at TCU University Recreation Center. KU’s lone win of the day came in the second set.

The first set was back-and-forth, and Kansas held the 22-18 advantage late in the set. TCU responded and was able to tie the set at 23 before ultimately earning the win.

TCU jumped out to a 14-9 edge in the second set, which forced Kansas to call a timeout to slow the momentum. Following the timeout, the Jayhawks started chipping away at the TCU lead and tied the score at 17 after a block by Ashley Smith and Zoe Hill. KU completed the comeback and won the set on an attack by Smith.

TCU responded back and captured the third set, 25-17. The fourth set was another back-and-forth battle between the two Big 12 foes. Kansas jumped out to an early 5-point advantage, but TCU battled back to tie the set score at 13.

The Horned Frogs continued their attack down the stretch and survived some small runs by the Jayhawks, capturing the set and the match.

Kansas (7-14, 3-8 Big 12) travels to Baylor at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
