Perry-Lecompton didn’t need a second-half comeback this week, which was the case in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Kaws jumped out to an early lead in an eventual 35-21 win over Holton in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs on the road Friday night. PLHS scored 21 points in the first half, while holding Holton to just 6 points over the first two periods.
It was a perfect combination of quarterback William Welch and running back Thad Metcalfe that helped the Kaws capture a regional title. Welch went 19-for-23 for 203 yards and three scores through the air. Metcalfe added 127 yards and two scores on 28 carries.
Perry-Lecompton (7-3) will host Prairie View (10-0) next week.
