FSHS girls soccer cruises past Wichita Southeast

Free State’s girls soccer team will live to fight another day.

In the play-in game Monday night, FSHS cruised to a 10-0 victory over Wichita Southeast to earn a trip to top-seeded Washburn Rural. The Firebirds (3-12-2) scored all 10 goals in the first half in their lopsided postseason win.

Senior captains Emma Yackley and Brittany Hoffman gifted Free State a 3-0 advantage within the first 17 minutes of the contest. Both Yackley and Hoffman registered a hat trick, combining to notch the first six scores of the outing.

Hannah Gilmore delivered the seventh score, while Kenzie Rorabaugh tallied a goal as well. Madison Beeley was credited with the final two goals of the match, the second of which game with six minutes remaining in the first half.

FSHS will travel to Washburn Rural at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
