Baseball game between FSHS and LHS postponed to Friday

The final City Showdown of the regular season in the 2018-19 school year was pushed back one day.

Free State and Lawrence High were scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regular-season finale, but is now slated for 6 p.m. Friday at Hoglund Ballpark.

Bragging rights will be the only thing on the line in this game, as regional assignments were announced Wednesday morning. Both the Firebirds (16-3) and the Lions (14-5) will be hosting their respective regional after finishing in the top-three in the 6A West division.

After an entire year of riveting crosstown clashes, the battle on the diamond figures to be one of the most highly-anticipated City Showdowns yet. Free State won 14 games in a row at one point this season, while Lawrence had a nine-game win streak in April.
